2018 Skoda Octavia: Footage From the Production Lines

Skoda Octavia factory production line

One of the go-to videos for anyone curious how cars are made. Footage from the 2018 Skoda Octavia production lines that could rival any sci-fi film. This factory, where robots work non-stop, has a production capacity of 1,200 vehicles per day.

Mladá Boleslav is the backbone of SKODA’s global production network. To date, more than half of all SKODA vehicles ever produced worldwide have come from this factory. Skoda has undergone extensive development, especially since joining forces with the Volkswagen Group in 1991. Since then, this facility has produced 7.8 million vehicles — around 3.3 million Fabias, around 2.8 million Octavias, and 309,000 Rapids.

The Mladá Boleslav factory plays a key role in SKODA’s current model lineup. One of the most extensive modernization and expansion projects in the plant’s history was carried out before production of the Octavia / Octavia Combi, Rapid / Rapid Spaceback, and Fabia / Fabia Combi models began in 2012. The production line’s capacity rose from 800 to 1,200 vehicles per day. A new body shop and a fully automated paint shop were also built.

The factory on Václav Klement Way in Mladá Boleslav is SKODA’s most sophisticated plant. Near today’s production facilities, SKODA’s two founders, Laurin and Klement, first started out building bicycles in 1895, then moved on to motorcycles, and produced their first automobile in 1905.
