What Is Google One. Its Plans and Pricing

What Is Google One. Prices and Plans

Google One is a monthly subscription service that offers expanded online cloud storage for use across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Meanwhile, Google Drive is a free storage service where you can store up to 15 GB of documents and photos.

Google One replaced Google Drive’s storage plans in 2018 — so now, if you want more than the free 15 GB of storage, you need to pay for a Google One plan. Google One can be accessed through your browser or from the Google One app.

How do you sign up for Google One?

To sign up, go to Google One’s website and make sure you’re signed in with the Google Account you want to use.

When you click THIS LINK, you’ll see that you currently have the normal 15 GB of storage, and how much of it you’re using and where.

If you’d like, you can stay on the free 15 GB plan, or click the blue button to choose a paid plan.

Google’s recommended plans (as of February 2022) start from a 100 GB plan for 5.79 TL a month. If you pay annually, the price comes out 17% cheaper.

The 100 GB Plan

You’ll have 100 GB of storage to use across Drive, Gmail, and Photos. You’ll also have 24/7 access to a team of Google experts via chat or email for your technical questions and emergencies. With a Google One membership, you can also share your plan with up to 5 family members, so everyone can make the most of the extra storage on their own personal Google accounts.

The subscription also has additional perks along with free and discounted content on hotels or Google Stadia; some of these can also be used by the family members you share your plan with.

The 200 GB Plan

Along with the benefits you get with the 100 GB plan, 200 GB subscribers get extra storage in addition to an extra member benefit: another 3% cashback on purchases from the Google Store.

The 2 TB Plan

Subscribing to the 2 TB storage plan gets you all the same member benefits as the previous two plans, along with an extra benefit of up to 10% cashback again on the Google Store. Subscribers on this plan also get a VPN for Android phones.

Other Plans

10 TB, 20 TB, or 30 TB plans are also available; to sign up for these you already need to be a Google One member — meaning you must have already paid for one of the previously listed tiers.

Cloud Storage Tiers

Google One is a monthly/annual subscription service offering different storage tiers ranging from 100 GB to 2 TB.

Family Sharing

A Google One subscription can be shared with up to 5 family members at no extra cost.

VPN Encryption Layer

Google One VPN encrypts your internet traffic, providing an extra layer of security especially on public Wi-Fi networks.

How does Google One VPN work?

If you’re on the 2 TB plan or higher, you get VPN access through Google One. The VPN is built into the Google One app and is expected to provide an extra layer of security when you’re online. You can easily turn on the VPN service from the Google One app.

Google One Family

With your paid Google One membership, you’ll get the chance to create a group of up to 5 extra family members to share your plan with. Creating a household group lets people in that group access Google Family Calendar, Family Link, Google Assistant, Home Bridge, YouTube Premium plans (if you’re subscribed), Google Play Family TV, and more.

To start adding people, open Google One in your browser or app. You’ll be able to add family members from the home screen in your browser, which will be found under the app’s Settings tab > Manage Family Settings > Manage Household Group.

To create a family group using your browser, you can go to https://families.google.com/families. Click the “Get Started” button to manage your family group. Enter the email addresses of the members you want to add to your family group and click Send. This will send invitations to these people.

To create the family group, click the Create Family Group button. Click Go to family group to see and manage your family members.

Related Questions

Gmail, Drive, and Photos all share the same pooled 15 GB of storage; once that space fills up, you can no longer save new files or emails. A Google One subscription removes this usage limit by expanding that shared storage.

While the amount of storage is the most obvious difference between plans, some higher-tier plans can also offer extra benefits such as access to Google experts or sharing with family members. For this reason, when choosing a plan, it’s worth looking at the other features included, not just the GB amount.
