Using a Rivet Gun
We can easily use a rivet gun, which we can even keep at home, in situations where two parts need to be joined so they can’t be taken apart. You’ll also need a drill and drill bits to drill a hole matching the rivet diameter in the parts you want to fasten together.
The video above shows how a rivet gun works.
NOTE: After riveting, you get a joint that isn’t easily taken apart. To remove it, you’ll need to grind off or drill out the rivet head.

Pop rivet gun
Just as there are pneumatic rivet guns, there are also plier-type guns you can use for simple jobs. (Above)

For the riveting operation, we also need pop rivets to load into the rivet gun. In the picture above, we see rivets in various sizes.

Calculate the rivet length based on the thickness of the materials you’ll be joining, and use a rivet of the appropriate length.

Make sure you’re using the adapter that matches the rivet diameter. If needed, remove one of the spare adapters on the gun and attach it to the gun’s tip.

Make sure the gun’s handles are in the squeezed position while changing the rivet gun’s tip adapters.

When attaching the rivet tip adapter, use the wrench on the gun and don’t apply too much tightening force.

Insert the rivet into the gun’s tip by its mandrel (thin) end

Stack the materials you’ll join, clamp them together, and drill a hole of the appropriate diameter.

Insert the rivet into the hole and squeeze the gun’s handles 2-3 times.

The rivet’s mandrel will snap off and the operation will be complete.
