First Aid for Drowning in Water

1- IF THE PERSON ISN’T BREATHING, BEGIN ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION AND CPR
For drowning victims, especially in cold weather, artificial respiration and CPR should be started even if 20-30 minutes have passed.
In water drownings, mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-nose breathing can be performed while still in the water. If the patient is in the water, begin first aid in the water without wasting time. If you’re in deep water, quickly pull the patient toward shallow water.
2- IF THE DROWNING RESULTED FROM JUMPING INTO WATER
Spinal fractures may have occurred. For this reason, do not tilt the patient’s head back too far
First Aid for Choking on an Object

The Abdominal Thrust Technique
The Heimlich maneuver is performed with a sudden upward-and-inward thrust above the navel.
Priority to Coughing
If the person can still cough, they should be given the chance to expel the object on their own before you intervene.
If Consciousness Is Lost
If the person loses consciousness, basic life support including cardiac massage and rescue breathing should begin immediately.
How Is the Heimlich Maneuver Performed?
First aid for a blocked airway: the Heimlich maneuver

1- In this situation, first bend the person forward and strike their back 5 times, then perform 5 abdominal thrusts.
2- The patient can be standing or sitting. Wrap your arms around their torso from behind. Make a fist with one hand and place it above the navel, below the breastbone (sternum). Grasp your fist with your other hand,

3- Press forcefully inward and upward. Repeat this movement 5-7 times until the foreign object comes out. If consciousness is lost… apply basic life support and call for medical help (emergency services).

Cold water slows the body’s metabolism, allowing organs to survive without oxygen longer than normal. This is why resuscitation attempts should continue without giving up, even if time appears to have passed.
Jumping into water from a height may have caused a neck or spinal fracture. Forcefully tilting the head back can worsen this kind of existing injury, causing permanent damage.
